Celeste Korsholm, Painter
CELESTE KORSHOLM is an internationally known visionary artist, teacher and author with a master’s degree in fine art. Her spiritual portraits, paintings, prints and cards can be found in fine galleries, stores, offices and homes worldwide.
CELESTE began her art training at age ten with six years of Saturday classes at the Carnegie Museum School of Art in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She majored in studio art for her B.A. degree at the College of Wooster, in Ohio, and earned her M.A. degree at Penn State University. The artist continued her art training in The Hague, Holland, London, England, and Houston, Texas, studying photography, fabric printing, lithography, modern art history, and commercial art. CELESTE taught oil and watercolor painting, art history and art appreciation at the University of Houston, Houston Community College and Houston Contemporary Art Museum. She sold her paintings through galleries, artist’s co-ops and art brokers while working as an art director for a pharmaceutical company.
In the early 80’s CELESTE learned to enter a meditative state and let creative ideas flow directly from a higher dimension of consciousness. This new source of inspiration demanded a whole new technique. Oil painting, her specialty for twenty years, suddenly seemed too thick and heavy. Years of frustrating trial and error resulted in her present, unique, visionary style. CELESTE now combines drawing, collage and acrylic spray in a soft mix of pastels and metallics, realistic figures and imaginary starscapes to create paintings of ethereal, mystical beauty. She specializes in spiritual portraits for individuals, couples and children. See her web site for more details.
