2014 SVAC/SAC SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED
The Sedona Visual Artists’ Coalition, in collaboration with the Sedona Arts Center, is pleased to announce they awarded three scholarship grants of $500.00 each to graduating seniors at Mingus Union High School (MUHS) this month. Congratulations to the recipients:
Haley Backus of Clarkdale, attending Northern Arizona University;
Gabriella Guerrero of Cottonwood, attending Long Beach City College;
Zach Kline of Cottonwood, attending Yavapai College.
Carolyn T. Ensley & Pam Frazier represented the granting organizations at the MUHS ceremony.
Because the Mission Statements of both SVAC and SAC center around education, artistic development and community, it was natural for these two vibrant organizations to work together in order to provide scholarship opportunities to our future artists. Thanks for joining us, SAC!
SVAC ART MENTOR PROGRAM
The SVAC Art Mentor Program is where we are needed and wanted. We are now at the Desert Star Elementary School, West Sedona School, Sedona Red Rock High School and the Sedona Sunrise Center for Adults.
A mentor is a tutor, a coach and a trusted guide. Becoming an art mentor is one small way to give of yourself. You can create your own program for your one student, you can create a one-time project for a group of students or you can meet with a number of students a couple times every month.
You can meet with your student every week or every other week. It’s up to you, your student(s) and your schedule. You can mentor at the school or at your studio (approval needed for this). You will receive up to $100 for expenses.
THE MENTOR PROGRAM BRINGS THE JOY OF CREATIVITY TO THOSE WHO DESIRE ITS BENEFITS, GROWTH AND GRATIFICATION.
We want and NEED you guys too! The boys really like and want a male presence.
Short-term projects are welcome!
