Arts and Culture – Museum of N Arizona
Flagstaff June 27-28

We are relaunching the concept of member’s getting together to explore arts and culture events with the first trip planned to this wonderful annual festival in Flagstaff. We hope to do several of these events this year.
The event is being coordinated by board member Jan Saunders. If you are interested in participating, please RSVP to Jan at: bkseatridr@mac.com by June 10 and please include:
- Which day you prefer? We will then pick the day with the most preferences.
- Can you drive and if yes, how many can you take with you?
SVAC Annual Meeting August 11th
The Annual Meeting will be held on August 11th at 1 PM at the Church of the Red Rocks which is at 75 Bowstring in Sedona. We will publish an agenda about a week before the meeting. Some of the major topics will be:
- Annual election for our Board of Directors
- Annual Member Show Update
- Open Studio Update
- Guest Speaker
We have two ideas that have been put forward for a speaker and are looking for you all to vote on which one you would like to hear. The potential speaker would be:
- Insurance broker to discuss options for homeowner’s insurance that covers personal liability when participating in Open Studios.
- CPA to talk about “Taxes and the artist.” We are looking for suggestions for CPA’s that fit this bill.
- Here is a link to respond on which speaker you would prefer and if you have any candidates, you think would do a great job:

Online Application for SVAC
24th Annual Member Exhibition
At the Sedona Arts Center
The online application for our annual exhibition this year will open on June 12 and close on July 11. It is hoped that this change will expedite the application process and not interfere with members’ summer plans. In the past, some members found the mid-July/August application time problematic.
The SVAC 24th Annual Exhibition will be open to the public from Friday, October 2, to Friday, October 16, at the Sedona Arts Center. It will include a Member’s Meeting on Thursday, October 1 and an Opening Reception on First Friday, October 2.

Something to Think About
A couple of thoughts from two of my favorite artists. If you ever get to Florence, seek out Michelangelo’s home and private studio. It is off the beaten tourist path and really quite fascinating. Of course, Monet’s Giverny is a mecca for artists as well as art lovers and not to be missed if you find yourself in France.
“I would like to paint the way a bird sings.”
~Claude Monet
“If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn’t seem so wonderful at all.”
~Michelangelo
